The Renewable Energy Grid Integration Summit is going beyond the usual technology-related issues and delves into the high-level, strategic concerns related to the integration of renewable energy on national electricity systems.
This summit focuses on the need for a joined up strategy for the integration of renewable energy onto the network. The program is designed to increase pan-industry discussion and collaboration and looks at strategies for overcoming planning hurdles, sharing costs, accessing equipment and assessing what can be done now.
What Solutions Does This Event Deliver?
- First-hand regulatory insight from the national and European energy regulators
- Benchmarking sessions and joint strategy thinking from Europe’s leaders and chief innovators in renewable energy integration and grid stability
- Insight on the key planning factors for market penetration of renewable energy
- Strategies for reducing the costs of integrating wind projects into national systems – what can be done at the lowest costs?
Day 1, chaired by Sir John Mogg (chairman, OFGEM and CEER), will start with crucial inputs from the regulators both at the European and national level and assess future electricity regulation, market mechanism and funding models. These sessions will be followed by an industry panel leading into a pan-audience discussion on the industry’s needs in order to reach these regulatory objectives. These sessions will set the table for 2 days of strategic joined-up thinking and benchmarking on how to effectively connect renewable energy project to the grid, looking at overcoming the planning hurdles both from the grid operator’s side and the developer’s side, assessing the current state of the grid and what could be done right now, looking at key strategies for site selection in order to accelerate the process and including special sessions focusing on on-shore and offshore wind farm development.
